Why Are We Barefoot?

A man from Brazil on a plane once told me that when you fall in love, even the feet of the person you love are beautiful. After I, Andrea, met Tim, I told him that he was attractive even down to his feet. That man must have known what he was talking about, because I knew exactly what he meant when I first knew that I loved my husband.

As much as I may have directed you to make the assumption, this story is not the reason we went with “Barefoot Films.” However, it made me realize the truth in this man’s statement. For this reason, we are so passionate about filming weddings, because no matter how un-aesthetically pleasing feet may be at times, we are excited to know that the person you are starting your adventure with is the one you love in this same way.

Barefoot Films is more than a symbol of our favorite footwear. It symbolizes our character and describes the weddings we film (don’t worry, you don’t have to be barefoot in your wedding for us film it). It is simplicity. When things are made simple, fewer distractions stand in the way of the things that are truly important. Picture taking off your shoes in the grass, sand, or whatever form of ground on which you like to adventure. Without soles to hide the feeling of the ground beneath our feet, we can feel every texture and detail. It’s the raw ingredients of the earth, and when we remove our shoes, we can feel everything and appreciate it even more. We capture all of the raw emotions and moments of a wedding day, knowing that those simple moments are the ones that make an amazing story.

The significance and excitement of a wedding can be drowned in a sea of details--all the things that could go wrong to ruin this special day. We’ve been there. We have gotten caught up in those things like seating charts, flower arrangements, the guest list, and decorations that have stolen joy from planning a wedding. As Barefoot Films, we want to help make that joy present through everything--from the wedding planning to the final exit from the wedding. We chose Barefoot because it signifies a carefree spirit along with amazing moments that happen with people you love and feel comfortable around--not allowing things to slide through as if they aren’t important, but realizing what is most important in every moment. We have always felt comfortable in our bare feet around people who we love and know love us back. These are the people we enjoy barefoot adventures with, because these are the moments when memories are made and worries are forgotten.

The significance of a wedding day is important to us. A couple is about to start their lives together forever. Completely vulnerable. Completely transparent. Completely excited. Completely authentic. Completely them. Barefoot Films symbolizes this as the start of a journey barefoot--when the couple decides to become one and begin their adventure with complete vulnerability with one another and commitment to share memories and amazing moments with each other for a lifetime.

So there you have it! That is why we are indeed, Barefoot.
